1.For the Meatballs:

  • ½ lb ground beef
  • ½ lb ground pork
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ½ onion, grated
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp ground allspice
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp butter + 1 tbsp oil (for frying)

2. For the Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 ½ cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated

3. For the Bake:

  • 12 oz egg noodles, cooked al dente
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Make the Meatballs: Mix all meatball ingredients in a bowl and shape into small balls.
  2. Cook the Meatballs: Sear in butter and oil until browned, then set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce: In the same pan, melt butter, whisk in flour, then slowly add beef broth and cream. Stir in Worcestershire, mustard, nutmeg, and cheese. Simmer until thick.
  4. Cook the Noodles: Boil noodles until al dente, then drain.
  5. Assemble: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Layer cooked noodles in a greased baking dish, pour the sauce over, and place the meatballs on top. Sprinkle with mozzarella.
  6. Bake: Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Let rest for 5 minutes, then sprinkle with parsley and serve hot.
