Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium ripe tomatoes, chopped (or 1 can diced tomatoes)
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • Pinch of sugar
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: pinch smoked paprika or crushed red pepper flakes

  • Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  • Sprinkle flour over onions and garlic, stirring constantly for 2 minutes.
