  • 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Vanilla Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and chop apples into small pieces. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and sugar.
  3. Add the egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.
  4. Fold in the chopped apples.
  5. Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C). Carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into the oil.
  6. Fry for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  7. In a small saucepan, melt butter and combine with powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk. Stir until smooth.
  8. Drizzle glaze over fritters and serve warm.
