Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)
- 4 burger buns (brioche or potato rolls)
- 4 slices American cheese
- Lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions (optional)
- Ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your griddle over medium-high heat and lightly oil the surface.
- Form the ground beef into 4 loose balls (about 4 ounces each) and season with salt and pepper.
- Place each beef ball onto the hot griddle and smash down firmly with a spatula to form a thin patty.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes, adding cheese during the last minute if desired.
- Toast the burger buns on the griddle until golden brown.
- Assemble the burger by placing the patty on the bottom bun and adding your favorite toppings.
- Top with the other half of the bun and serve hot.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding a bit of garlic powder or onion powder to the beef before forming the patties.
- Don’t overwork the beef to keep the burgers tender and juicy.
