Soft, chewy, and delightfully colorful, they’re a whimsical twist on the classic Rice Krispie treat. Plus, they can be customized with surprise candy fillings or decorated with chocolate drizzle and sprinkles for extra charm. Whether you’re making them for an Easter party, brunch, or just as a fun weekend project with the kids, these sweet treats will bring joy to your table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Food coloring (gel, optional)
  • Candy fillings: mini chocolate eggs, jellybeans, or M&Ms (optional)
  • Sprinkles or sanding sugar (optional)
  • Melted white or milk chocolate for drizzling (optional)
  • Non-stick spray or softened butter (for greasing hands)

Instructions

  • Prepare your workspace by laying out parchment paper and greasing your hands or tools.
  • Melt the butter in a large pot over low heat.
  • Add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract if using.
  • Divide the melted mixture into bowls if coloring, and add a few drops of food coloring to each.
  • Add Rice Krispies cereal to each bowl and fold until well coated.
  • Grease your hands and scoop about 1/4 cup of the mixture, pressing it into an egg shape.
  • If adding fillings, flatten the mixture in your hand, place candy inside, and form it around the filling.
  • Place shaped eggs on parchment paper and let cool for 30 minutes.
  • Decorate with sprinkles or chocolate drizzle if desired.
  • Serve or package them for gifting!

Notes

  • Use fresh marshmallows and cereal for the best texture.
  • Gel food coloring works better than liquid as it gives more vibrant color without watering down the mixture.
  • Don’t skip greasing your hands—this is key to shaping easily!
