- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet, dark, or milk)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Use a cookie scoop to form dough balls and place them 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden and the centers are just set.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a chewier cookie, underbake slightly and let the cookies set on the baking sheet. If you like, add chopped nuts, dried fruit, or oats to customize the recipe.
