Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 ½ cups BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or Worcestershire sauce
  • Optional: cayenne pepper or hot sauce for heat


Instructions

  • Spray crockpot with cooking spray or use liner.
  • Place chicken in crockpot in a single layer.
  • Mix BBQ sauce with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Add vinegar or Worcestershire sauce if using.
  • Pour sauce over chicken, coating evenly.
  • Cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours without lifting lid.
  • Remove chicken, shred with two forks.
  • Return shredded chicken to crockpot, mix well with sauce, cook an additional 10-15 minutes.
  • Adjust seasoning if needed, serve warm.
