Instructions

  2. Cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  4. Gradually add flour, baking soda, and salt, mixing until just combined.
  5. Add cotton candy sugar (or extract) and mix until incorporated. Divide dough if using multiple colors and knead food coloring into each portion.
  6. Chill dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  7. Roll dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place on prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
