Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
- Gradually add flour, baking soda, and salt, mixing until just combined.
- Add cotton candy sugar (or extract) and mix until incorporated. Divide dough if using multiple colors and knead food coloring into each portion.
- Chill dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Roll dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place on prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden.
- Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
