- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, diced (optional)
- 1 can crushed tomatoes (14.5 oz)
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
- Optional: chili flakes, smoked paprika, Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté onion and garlic until softened (2–3 minutes).
- Add ground beef, break it up with a spoon, and cook until browned (6–8 minutes). Drain excess fat.
- Add bell pepper (optional) and cook for 3–5 minutes.
- Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and spices. Cook for 1–2 minutes.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes and beef broth. Bring to a simmer and cook uncovered for 10 minutes.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve over rice, pasta, or potatoes.
Notes
- For extra creaminess, add a splash of heavy cream or sour cream at the end of cooking.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3–4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
