Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or melting chocolate
  • Holiday sprinkles or crushed peppermint for garnish

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat.
  • Add marshmallows and stir continuously until melted and smooth. Stir in vanilla and salt.
  • Remove from heat and fold in Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated.
  • Let mixture cool slightly, then shape into 1–2 tablespoon-sized balls using greased hands.
  • Place balls on a parchment-lined baking tray.
  • Melt chocolate chips in 30-second intervals until smooth.
  • Dip each ball into the chocolate, coat evenly, and return to the tray.
  • While the chocolate is wet, sprinkle with toppings.
  • Chill in refrigerator for 10–15 minutes or until set.

Notes

  • Work quickly when shaping, as the mixture hardens as it cools.
  • White chocolate drizzle adds a festive contrast.
  • Store in an airtight container layered with parchment paper.
