Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 bell peppers, sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Fresh ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Slice the beef against the grain, and slice the bell peppers and onions.
  • In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch to create the sauce.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned.
  • Add garlic, bell peppers, and onions to the pan. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
  • Pour the sauce over the beef and vegetables, stirring to coat. Let the sauce thicken for 1-2 minutes.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the beef for 30 minutes before cooking.
