Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped into bite-sized pieces
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 3 garlic cloves, pressed
- 1–2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Worcestershire sauce, red pepper flakes, fresh parsley
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking up clumps.
- Add onions and cook until translucent. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds more.
- Toss in the chopped cabbage, season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Stir to combine.
- Pour in broth, cover, and simmer 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally until cabbage is tender.
- Adjust seasoning with optional Worcestershire sauce or red pepper flakes. Let rest one minute before serving.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- Under-cook cabbage slightly if storing for leftovers to prevent mushiness.
- Add extra vegetables like carrots or bell peppers for variety.
- For a lighter version, use lean ground turkey or chicken.
