Description

Cabbage and Ground Beef is a hearty, comforting dish perfect for busy weeknights or casual family dinners. The combination of savory ground beef and tender, slightly sweet cabbage creates a meal that is simple, filling, and full of flavor. Even with minimal ingredients, this dish feels rich, satisfying, and adaptable to your taste.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, pressed
  • 12 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Worcestershire sauce, red pepper flakes, fresh parsley

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking up clumps.
  • Add onions and cook until translucent. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds more.
  • Toss in the chopped cabbage, season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Stir to combine.
  • Pour in broth, cover, and simmer 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally until cabbage is tender.
  • Adjust seasoning with optional Worcestershire sauce or red pepper flakes. Let rest one minute before serving.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Under-cook cabbage slightly if storing for leftovers to prevent mushiness.
  • Add extra vegetables like carrots or bell peppers for variety.
  • For a lighter version, use lean ground turkey or chicken.
