This grilled burger recipe brings together juicy beef patties with a perfectly seasoned crust, melted cheese, and toasted buns for an unbeatable classic. Whether you’re feeding a crowd or enjoying a simple dinner, these burgers deliver a satisfying balance of texture and flavor. Easy to customize and quick to prepare, they are a staple for any grill lover looking to impress with minimal fuss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds ground beef (80/20)
  • 1½ teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 4 to 6 burger buns
  • Butter for toasting buns
  • Cheese slices (cheddar, American, or Swiss)
  • Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles
  • Ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise (or preferred condiments)

Instructions

  • Mix ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce gently.
  • Divide into equal portions and form patties with a shallow thumbprint in the center.
  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat (375–400°F). Clean and oil the grates.
  • Place patties on grill and cook 3–4 minutes per side without moving.
  • Add cheese slices in the last minute and close the lid to melt.
  • Butter-toast buns on grill for 30–60 seconds.
  • Assemble burgers with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, condiments, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For best results, keep meat cold until cooking, don’t overwork the patties, and let burgers rest after grilling for juicy results. Customize with your favorite toppings or try adding smoked wood chips for extra flavor.
