Ingredients

  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook spaghetti 2 minutes less than package directions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, sauté onion until soft. Add garlic and ground beef. Cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce, oregano, and Italian seasoning. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, combine egg, ricotta cheese, and a bit of salt and pepper.
  6. Mix half of the sauce with the spaghetti.
  7. Layer half of the spaghetti in the baking dish. Add the ricotta mixture, then top with the remaining spaghetti.
  8. Pour the rest of the sauce on top. Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 10 more minutes until golden.
  10. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley.
